Do any of you have survival tips for a lateral who immediately got snatched up by partners with no ramp up period? I still don't know which printers are color but I averaged 9 billables per day my second week. I thought this wasn't supposed to happen to juniors y'all! There is no time for me to figure out the office and meet people!

It's hard, but lean in. This is when you establish yourself. It's an opportunity.

100% an opportunity. I lateraled as a 4th year and was "ramping up" forever. Never felt like I was really incorporated into the team. Gave my notice 2 years later 🤣.

If you like the people and the firm, lean into it. You'll figure out the printers, but you have the opportunity to build your reputation now and be a vital member of the team.

Your recruiter should have given you the heads up as to how the group operates. Sounds like you’ll be busy!

“Keep costs down”???? I am happy to keep costs down by not working on this ducking matter anymore. Maybe stop saying yes to matters that are too small to justify our rates and staffing an expensive senior person on them when you’re already dying trying to get anything staffed. You didn’t have to do shit on this matter, didn’t hear you complaining about my taking the lead and managing everything for you when that was happening. >.>
