Do you work at vayner?
like a creative but not creative, just opinionated
Sounds like you’re a millennial intern circa 2009, my advice is to commit to being an art director or writer, because right now you’re more likely just the first person to get cut in layoffs cause they’re not specifically good at any one thing on the org chart.
sooooo you’re a strategist?
What I can do best: creating ideas and concepts specific to the channels and platforms. Ranges from a campaign idea to several postings or what the assets should look like. Striving to be a CD.
You sound like a “modern” strategist, which is awesome. Creative strategist?
Overseas might be more traditional with titles. Usually America sets trends with job titles and this one seems too fresh for the rest of the world to have caught on yet imo. Maybe creative strategist exists out there though.
Sounds like a digital/creative strategist that can write. Depending on how well you can write, of course.
If you were to put a portfolio together, how would you explain your role in each project? Doing that might help you figure out what you actually are.
Also, what country do you live in, cuz that sounds like a sweet gig.
My role would be: ideation. Writing down ideas with a copywriter and creating mockups or assets with an art director. Knowing a lot about the channels/platforms and possibilities.
I live in Germany. And this position seems to become a trend. An all round creative. I worked together with art directors who didn’t know what twitch is on a gaming campaign. Worked together with copywriters who didn’t know what a YouTuber does on an influencer campaign.
I'm fascinated by this.
What did you go to school for?
What was your first agency job? It couldn't have been this, could it?
My first agency job was indeed Creative Concept at a media agency. I then scored a job at a creative agency working for big brands and clients. Still willing to become CD as the next huge step. Basically I’m just not a classic Copywriter then but more digital and strategic.
Haha no. A regular ad agency. What I do is part copywriting ideas, part comms strategy and part trend/hype research. And everything new media like concepts with Creators (YouTubers) or new apps/technologies.
Do you know what you are good at?
I’m so sorry I’m really not trying to be a dick, just trying to understand your skill set and also your ambitions
we can help! :)
Sounds like you’re a writer
So... you talk but don’t do.
I basically write my ideas down. Either on idea papers or keynotes. Think that makes me a copywriter then. Never came up with a specific claim though. But I wrote several spots and creator videos for YouTube.
