Do folks with only 2 years of MBB experience post MBA, signify that they were forced to exit their firm as part of the 'up or out' policy at these firms? Is that a fair assessment to make?

No. It’s more that the exit opps become much more lucrative once you become an EM/PL, which usually happens around the 2 year mark.

Almost never. It’s pretty rare to get pushed out after just two years. Most of the people found other jobs. Or found they didn’t like consulting, did their time and left
Signs of up or out are: 3 years as associate with no promotion. 7 years and not making partner.

At McK, I got issues in review 1 and got CTL'd after one study

Not necessarily because their sponsorship payback is typically 2 years

smart

If it's 2 years with no promotion, usually yes

I was pushed out after a bit less than one so it's basically stamped on my resume

I spend my days wandering the streets in a tattered suit talking "business" into a seashell.

"What do you mean the business merger isn't going through?"

It’s impossible to tell one way or another.

Not a fair assessment, people leave consulting all the time, 2 years being very common

Any tips for building a client base from scratch? I’m a 4th year associate at a firm of 12 attorneys. I practice in business, compliance, and real estate (primarily on partners’ files) and don’t litigate. Most of the partners’ clients are wealthy friends or friends of friends (not my circle). Associates are not referred business, even cold calls, and so far “networking” events like Chamber of Commerce luncheons have been a bust. I equate a book to autonomy and career choice and pressure is on.

I feel like I was straight up lied to during the interview process. “lots of opportunities to hit quota”. I’m sitting here with only one demo two months after joining the company. it looks like our team has only two people doing demos, and demos are only happening once every two weeks. At this rate, I don’t think I’ll be even close to hitting OTE. Are there any other companies hiring right now? I’ll have a discussion about my concerns with my manager soon, but there’s too many red flags here.
