What will the project dynamics be on a project staffed with 3mdps, a PL, and myself, a summer UG intern? Just got staffed and will be hearing more on Monday from the team, but it came across as an interesting staffing composition.
Have the feeling I'll be making quite a few slides as the only junior. Anyone staffed on a similar case composition?

I mean, if your your goal is to stay in a law firm, firms generally reward specialization, because that’s what a law firm is typically selling: deep expertise on a given legal issue. You’re right that in house roles tend to look for generalists, but not PURE generalists imo. Usually it’s a specialist who has generalist experience. For example, M&A lawyers are specialized corporate lawyers whose work also touches general corporate matters. IME the best in house lawyers have deep domain expertise (ie, their bread and butter is a specific area like cap markets, ECVC, or M&A, etc) but are comfortable spotting issues relating to/speaking the language of employment, IP, tax, etc. Which makes sense because the very nature of an operating business entails grappling with various issues.
Read the book Range by David Epstein. We live in an age of agility where some specialization and knowledge is good, and so is remaining flexible enough to be a generalist.
Niche, but not TOO niche.
