Do other firms have a "TFS" or someone who is supposed to help you get staffed? We do at ACN but they don't do much so we are encouraged to network. Just wondering if any of you had a similar process?

Resource managers are useless

like

EY has experience managers but often times individuals just reach out to senior managers or partners

like

EY has "Experience Managers" who have the same function. My experience is the ones I'm aligned to are rarely available or helpful when I'm trying to staff an engagement... Just another zero value-add overhead function as far as I'm concerned.

like

TFS are really admins. They search open positions from internal postings in the same way you can search. So please align your expectations and take the responsibility for further networking.

^oh shut up dude lol

like

No. I just reach out to Partners, and we have a Demand Manager.

Booz Allen has resource managers that fill that purpose. I've never had availability so I can't speak to their usefulness

They're useless.

We have talent managers who are incredibly useful. It's rare at the lower levels to get staffed by networking or reaching out to partners. You talk with your TM and they lay out the available projects and you decide together what you'd like.

TFS also play a big role in highlighting you to leadership if you have been on the bench too long. It is in your best interest to make sure that they know you are actively looking for work and doing BD.

I am a graduating student who just got offered 65k for a solution analyst role at Deloitte USDC (Data Engineering Focus). From reading previous posts it seems to be a lot of negative thoughts surrounding the USDC, but straight out of college is this a good opportunity?

I'm looking to gain as much experience as possible out of college in an IT role and wondering what exit opportunities may be in place a year or two down the road if there is little/slow progression.

Any Advice?

When renting a condo from an owner, I was asked to pay a $150 move-in fee to the building which I thought makes sense, but then I am being told to also pay a $500 non refundable move in fee to the owner but he is not wanting a security deposit. Is this normal? Seems like $500 down the drain but not sure if this is normal

I joined pwc last month, and absolutely hating it here. Each weekend has been working, 12-15 hours work day is minimum expectation. (Note that you request them to review and give their pov earlier on, but they never take the time out)

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
