For the best response to your post, please include the following:
Your location or HCOL/MCOL/LCOL ("high cost of living" city etc), years of experience, and any other relevant information for context.
Ex: "RN with 5 YOE in a MCOL city - just got offered a bedside role for 76k - I'm willing to take it. Thoughts?"
These variables have a great affect on salary and you'll get better answers the more details you provide.
For you guys and girls with significant others - how do you still make time to talk or meet?
Howdy! I’ve been a small business owner for longer than my stay in public school. Thanks for making this page! My wife and I run a photo imprinting business in our home, making photo t-shirts (also screen printed), coffee mugs, Christmas ornaments and a lot more stuff. I also own a firearms training business and am in the process of trying to start an axe throwing range. Lots of fun!!!fi
So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?
My thoughts and prayers are with anyone suiting up in the humid, muggy weather here in NYC. Stay cool!

I’ve been in my role since June of 2020 right after graduating college. I truly cannot say enough good things about my manufacturer but lately, as in the last 6ish months, I’ve truly been questioning whether there is more for me here.
As a 23 year old I know I’m more apt to hop or seek out other opportunities so I don’t want to be rash or just “toy around with leaving because I’m bored”. But at this point, I’ve reached my 2nd coaching (first was 4/2021) and it’s clear my role isn’t for me…..
What would you all say was a leadership/management pain point that you would love a solution for when it comes to leadership and performance improvement?
I am working for a CA start up that is still waiting for our first round of funding - I am an HR department of 1 (besides payroll) for over 80 employees. I’ve only been in this position for a little over a year and I’m doing ok with the lack of experience and little to no help. I am hitting my burn out stage and feeling bitter about not having the time for any professional development - any tips/courses that you would recommend?
I’m currently working with a senior level HR candidate. This individual has a doctorate in business with a focus in HR, her SPHR, Federal, and private sector experience at the singer level, and has a fabulous personality. I’m curious is anyone else having difficulties play some candidates like this? At this point I’m starting to think it’s racial or her sex based of the lack of interest in this candidate. Any thoughts?
Anyone with India employment knowledge/experience? Looking for insight into the following:
- How common is life insurance as an employer provided benefit and has anyone tried to get quotes on this recently? I’m being told by our broker it’s impossible to get anyone to quote on this now because of COVID but I don’t have a very high opinion of the broker…
-contract recruiters in India. I’m looking for multiple contract recruiters (English speaking). Any leads??
I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!
Do we really still support SHRM? I was a fan when I first got in HR now though I’ve had a few second thoughts. I also used to volunteer to review scholarships they provided, but after the last SHRM conference I started asking myself, why pay…. I also keep update myself outside of SHRM as I’ve had multi-site and country responsibility so I’ve had to usually keep uptodate.
For those of you who are certified (SHRM or PHR), what was your biggest takeaway from getting your certification? How has this helped you today in your HR career?
