Do y’all wait to notify your current job until the new job’s background check is completed and you receive your official start date? Or do you go ahead and notify them and give your two weeks when you sign a written offer letter?

Always clear the background check.

^ this is pretty standard HR / conservative advice; it’s a very rational take. I’ve notified sooner and haven’t had any issues, but in today’s climate it seems like you’re better safe than sorry.

In this market, I honestly wouldn’t put in my quit notice till first day starting at the new job - it’s ramp up for the first couple of weeks anyways

like

Not till you sign your offer why would you do before that?

like

Yes, ofc….i meant notifying after you sign the offer VS. notifying once the background check is actually completed and you agree on an official start date…

like

Pre covid I would’ve said two weeks when you sign the offer letter. Post covid, anything goes. Like someone else said there is no decency anymore. Just do what is best for you and only you.

Sad post, in need of some support **** my partner and i tried for 1 year to conceive naturally, only to have a miscarriage and start our IVF journey. 1 year into that - we had 5 healthy PGT-A and PGT-M tested embryos and were hopeful to implant. Implantation 1 just failed. We lost 20% of our chances that took 1 year to build. And tine just keeps ticking
