Nah, it's not just you. Call me lazy or whatever but I despise this work-centric way of living, I don't feel like I was built for it. Like it goes against my nature as a human to participate in the rat race. I only do it because I want to have property and provide for a family one day. I don't care about the company, my boss, or even my colleagues. Feels like we went wrong somewhere along the way.
I’m with you all
Once upon a time I cared more about my job than I did anything else. There was never enough time in the day to do everything that needed to be done for my job. At some point -- honestly, about 5 years later than it should've been -- I was told that if i didn't stop treating that job like it was the only thing in my life, it would be. Now I "render unto the job what is the job's" and "unto my family, everything else." I know longer care about the job as an entity, but about the real people who depend on me to do my job to help them meet their financial needs. It may technically be much the same, but I am no longer serving my job but serving other people. And, more importantly, I leave when the work day is over, go home, don't even think about the office, and come back in the morning ready to do it all over agaiin. I feel better, I perform better. It's just a matter of perspective and priority.
Rising Star
I used to be one of those super involved in my role people… most people have a “wake up” moment where they realize work isn’t everything / we aren’t living to work but working to live
Yes! I'm grateful for my wakeup moment.
Totally agree! I work to live, not live to work. If I win the lottery I’d drop work faster than you can blink 🤪
I kinda like that I don't like my job. Like I'm not passionate about it but I find ways to think of it as a game which makes parts of it fun. I just think my husband would be a really good stay at home parent and I already work remote so I'm trying to make enough so he can do that
I used to care so much and it wrecked my emotional state and caused so much anxiety. A few panic attacks and mental breakdowns is not worth it. I'm doing what I need to get by and get paid but no more.
I’m always shocked at how fired up people get at my office! It’s just numbers in corporate - not as if we are saving lives or making a true difference in the world. I laugh about it to myself bc at the end of the day I do not care (but I do care about doing a good job for myself). Most of our finance team is quite passionate 🤷♀️
