Do you feel like as a SpEd professional that your trainings and demands on your time are sometimes significantly more than regular teachers? We've had 4 training days this year in our district so far and for every single one the teachers are always done with theirs 1-2 hours earlier. Since that has happened 4 times now it is starting to really add up. Just feeling frustrated! Not sure why our meetings need to be so much longer.

My students come to my class first every morning and are really hard to settle. They continue to carry on whatever they were doing on the bus. It takes about 20 min to get them settled down and doing the warm up and the class is only 45 min. Any tips?

I feel like I'm at my wits end. I teach self-contained classes and according to the ISBE website my classes shouldn't be more than 8 students unless I have an aide - then it can be 10. I have no aide and most of my classes are around 14 kids. Some with behavior plans that are only out of our behavior room setting for my class... I have a principal with ZERO sped experience or knowledge observing and rating me. I got all distinguished last year from my AP. He gave me all basics & 2 unsat. He’s told us to not worry about goals
