Do you find it hard to speak your mind as a cop? There is so much ugly stuff happening and we are all just trying to pull through just as much as any other citizen, but sometimes it's even more difficult given our job title

Yes, it is very important for us as police officers to look for the best way to say things because in many occasions those same words are used against us.

As a police officer, you have to be careful with what you say and how you say it because we are supposed to be a law enforcement body and if we ourselves say that things are getting out of control, more than one person can worry more.

Due to our title, we keep quiet, many things happen that society "approves", but they are crimes for the simple fact of being so, for example, there are states where a certain amount of drugs are consumed legally, but others that are not, in these States where it is not allowed are said to be little tolerant, but we as police officers know what happens with drugs, how it starts and where it leads you.

I think that more than because of our title, it is because of how people see us today, I feel that we are always the bad guys because many have made mistakes, but not all of us make those mistakes, many of us try to do it well, but they measure everything by it same sinner.

The time to say what we think is when we are not on duty, because in uniform if we say what we think it will surely be used against us, so we must negotiate our thoughts in time so as not to be judged.

I am a police officer in Atlanta, I have a 6-year career, and I have gone through different departments as a police officer we know what is happening as society becomes more and more dangerous for itself, but we do not say anything and our order is always to react to what happens and not anticipate, even when we know that we can anticipate certain things.

I do. I think cops in the US are seen as bad people. No matter what we do, people will hate us. I wish there was a way for us to combat this perception. It's not my fault that I chose this job 20 years ago.

I don't know if it's hard per se, I just think that people nowadays will go out of their way to find a way to attack us for being cops. I don't think it's fair.

In my department there are some values and ideals that I definitely do not agree with. I think as cops we are held to a higher standard and are expected to conduct ourselves in a professional manner. This means that when it comes to communicating our thoughts or opinions on certain matters, we must be cautious.

it is important for officers to be mindful of their words and remain cognizant of public perception when formulating an opinion. Before voicing our pov on any given topic, we must determine first if such an opinion is necessary or appropriate. I see so many cops just being hateful.

We have to keep in mind that expressing an opinion may very well affect our job performance as well, any comments made about fellow officers or supervisors may be seen as undermining authority and cause us harm professionally.
