Do you guys use your work phone as your personal phone? I've always kept mine separate but now am looking at moving my personal over to my work device.

What's the downside? What's the upside?

I have KPMG manage my personal device so I can have email, calendar, contacts, etc. I really don’t care and it was the path of least resistance for me.

10 yrs in and have only ever used 1 phone. A) I don’t do anything shady enough in my off time to need the separation of church and state. Always remember many people have done a lot worse on their phones then you sending an aggressive “you up” text B) I’ve always been good at setting boundaries including not replying until I’m back on next C) this is an excerise in knowing thy self: for my mental health I’m better if I see stuff as it comes in or a few times the week I’m on pto so I’m not surprised by the deluge when I get back to work. Your mental health may be better defended by locking your firm phone in a drawer and being completely unreachable.

I’ve been with the same firm for almost 20 years. I keep separate personal and work phones even though there’s a small cost to it. I value the separation. The ability to leave my house on an evening or Sunday and not have works emails pop up without messing with any settings... just by leaving the work phone at the house.

Do it the other way- add your work to your personal device. They will apply a policy to let them monitor the work profile activities but not see anything about your personal profile activities. You'll have to figure out how your firm's reimbursement works for this but better in terms of separation.

If you do it the way I think you're saying, it's their device and you're just using it also for personal use, which most likely means there's no separate profiles, ie they can monitor everything.
