I worked at Protiviti for several years, and now Big 4. They are mostly an Internal Audit / Risk shop, though some of the larger offices do branch into more implementation and strategy.
I've been at B4 and Huron. Huron is way more collaborative and client first imo, and they have less red tape and bureaucracy.
For example, with COVID they quickly moved people around to run NYC's suppression and response. At one of those jumbos it would take an act of congress to move that fast and allow other business units to work together.
Same with moving offices. They don't care vs all the office drama that comes with moving at other firms.
Highly recommend for Healthcare or Higher Ed. Super strong in those areas.
Pro
Second hand account. I knew someone at Huron. That person didn’t like it there due to lack of exciting projects. Don’t know about other two.
Our projects are typically small to mid size, not going to see teams of more than dozen working on any one project - pretty strictly implementation work aside from M&A DD's or business case analysis projects
I do want to correct that - we've been doing a lot more on the strategy side in tech lately, as well as in our industry verticals.

It depends on industry and practice at Huron. If you're talking HC, then I believe they largely do tech, operations, and PMO work.
Pro
Huron HC is mostly implementations. Lots of different segments, but workforce, rev cycle, med group, cost and clinical all have varied projects with implementations.

Interesting, is there an equivalent to HE S&O on the HC side? Or is that just some of the work within the segments?
I’ve been with protiviti for a few years. My work has been somewhat split between strategy and implementation- focusing on transformations, strategic plans, pricing strategies, product development.
Most of my projects fall under business performance improvement or technology consulting.
