Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.

Why are you planning on that? Own business or to work for someone else? I would say both its important, people wants to know what you can do. I actually built an online portfolio recently and it’s made a big difference. I kept it simple, an intro/about me section, a few key projects with outcomes or metrics, and links to samples or case studies. I used Notion because it’s easy to update, but sites like Wix or Adobe Portfolio work great too. Looking at other portfolios in my field really helped shape mine. So, asking for friends to show their will help you think of ideas for you. I also researched online.
Appreciate the advice. I've just seen a few jobs I'm interested in mention a portfolio would be helpful. But wasn't really sure where to start.
I did when I was junior and asked for writing samples, but haven't in a while. I would maybe look for some kind of mentorship through PRSA or something like that.
Ohh I didn't think about checking out PRSA. Thanks for the tip.
I just made one earlier this year! Mine’s a PDF and I just share a Google Drive link (mostly because I was too lazy to build out a website). It includes an about me, my skills, my experience, and my education. And then I have separate sections for different things to show off: media placements, writing samples, influencer marketing campaign’s, etc. My last page is one of endorsements from old coworkers/clients and then a contact page. I found I’m more likely to get an interview if I include it! Even if the job doesn’t ask for a portfolio, if there’s a place to link it or upload it I will do so just to be safe.
I think it’s fine if it’s a former client! I made sure to ask people I had a good relationship with and also of varying levels on the ladder. I just told them I was putting together a portfolio/website of my work and it would mean a lot to me if they could provide an endorsement on their experience working with me and if not, I totally understand! Most everyone said yes :)
