Don’t be afraid to learn from those who work for you. The biggest lessons of my career have come from my direct reports.

Also you should be constantly learning how people learn. When you can identify the style (auditory, visual, or tactile) of the person you are teaching, you can create a more impactful learning experience.

This is helpful! Thank you.

Look up what skills are necessary for the type of supervisory roles they are and build training around them (first line managers/middle management). Some of the common skills to start with are delegation, feedback, coaching, and conflict resolution)

Hi everyone, I have a question about job transition. I want to transition into sales training. I have 9 YOE in sales account mgt and created some really effective trainings my office used and loved. After that I got 2 yrs in curriculum development elsewhere.

I want to move into a sales training role that will take into consideration my sales experience? Don't want to start from scratch. What job titles should I be looking for?

Hi all—I’m working on a training curriculum at my employer. Has anyone used Rise software & if so any input as to how it’s worked/not worked?

Need some benchmarks: What would average/good survey results be for a leadership skills class (instructor-led)? We ask for the participant’s experience (did you like it, would you recommend, etc.), and also send an impact survey out 2 months later to their manager (have you seen positive behavior changes since training). Our experience survey is at 92% positive and impact to behaviors is at 83% positive. Anything I can compare to in order to share the story with leadership?

Anyone use Adobe Captivate Prime as LMS? Thought on it?

I’m noticing that a lot of recent graduates at my job don’t know many basic computer skills (ie. Copy and paste short cuts or how to use the Microsoft Suite at all). I’ve been tasked with creating trainings to teach them these skills but it’s concerning to see how this new generation is starting to lack these assets. What happened? Is anyone else experiencing this at their organization?

I applied for a Director Learning and Development (L&D) role at McKinsey about a month ago via a referral. About a week ago, my McKinsey employee (who referred me) received an automated email saying that I had moved to the pre-screening process of the recruitment process and that I'll hear from the recruiter shortly.

It's more than a week now and I haven't heard back. Can anyone shed light on the process -- what to expect, timelines, what is the interview process like, etc.

Thanks!

Looking for some advice…I’ve been told that transitioning to L&D should be “easy“ given my experience and skills (résumé posted for reference - note that I adapt it per position). I have tried applying for specialist to Director positions but I’m not having much luck. Any suggestions on position type and level that I should be focused on. (I have executive level exp. and cannot afford to start an entry-level position.)

I am currently an HR professinal of 3 years with past background as a teacher/advisor in higher ed. I am aiming to pivot to a more L&D, training specialist type role in order to leverage the skills obtained in both areas. It would be the perfect career for me. Any openings or hiring at your company? I am not super concerned about the title as long as there is room for growth and I can pay for my 3 kids' daycare tuitions. ;)
