Workday as a LMS? I’m skeptical but my firm pushing in the “one stop shop” direction with an HRIS.

They push it because it’s a cheap add-on. Have Workday demo for you to see if it actually meets your needs.

Identify and understand your use cases, then evaluate Workday LMS against those use cases.

We tried this with Ultipro —traditionally at HRIS system.

The problem comes with optimization. Depending on what business leaders want your LMS to do, it may not be a ideal solution based off your needs.

Example. We tried this with Ultipro, but then as the compnay began to grow leaders wanted to dive into learning analytics and custom reports. Unfortunately Ultipro wasnt designed to do what our business leaders wanted it to do.

I don’t know the full capabilities of workday, but find out what capabilities your business leaders want out of your LMS — customized reports, dashboards, analytics? If so, it may not be a viable solution.

Large companies it would make sense to have a one stop shop. But yes definite limits to its capabilities.

Few days back I had a post stating that I would be joining one of the consultancy by end of this month, my question was will my joining date be impacted due to the current tech layoff. Is there a way that the new employer can monitor the post and take necessary action?

Have an interesting scenario. Holiday party season is approaching. At one of our parties (during working hours) there is an optional “talent show.” Employees can win door prizes. We have an entry that is a religious song - like one you would sing in church. I assume we need to let this employee perform this - or we are setting ourselves up for trouble. Likewise, if we permit this song, I assume we cannot compel attendance to the talent show. The talent show is part of a lunch thing.

I am currently an HR professinal of 3 years with past background as a teacher/advisor in higher ed. I am aiming to pivot to a more L&D, training specialist type role in order to leverage the skills obtained in both areas. It would be the perfect career for me. Any openings or hiring at your company? I am not super concerned about the title as long as there is room for growth and I can pay for my 3 kids' daycare tuitions. ;)

Need some benchmarks: What would average/good survey results be for a leadership skills class (instructor-led)? We ask for the participant’s experience (did you like it, would you recommend, etc.), and also send an impact survey out 2 months later to their manager (have you seen positive behavior changes since training). Our experience survey is at 92% positive and impact to behaviors is at 83% positive. Anything I can compare to in order to share the story with leadership?

I applied for a Director Learning and Development (L&D) role at McKinsey about a month ago via a referral. About a week ago, my McKinsey employee (who referred me) received an automated email saying that I had moved to the pre-screening process of the recruitment process and that I'll hear from the recruiter shortly.

It's more than a week now and I haven't heard back. Can anyone shed light on the process -- what to expect, timelines, what is the interview process like, etc.

Thanks!

Looking for some advice…I’ve been told that transitioning to L&D should be “easy“ given my experience and skills (résumé posted for reference - note that I adapt it per position). I have tried applying for specialist to Director positions but I’m not having much luck. Any suggestions on position type and level that I should be focused on. (I have executive level exp. and cannot afford to start an entry-level position.)

Hi there! I am currently in the healthcare industry and I’m looking to make a move into the tech industry in a remote role. I’ve previously worked in tech, but under client services. I wonder if anyone has any advice on what kind of salary ranges I should be asking for. I have 13 years work experience with 2 of those in L&D, 3 degrees (BA IO Psych, BBA Marketing, MBA Strategy and Management). Thank you!

Reposting from HR bowl: I’ve heard there is a hiring boom, especially for L&D roles. I was let go recently from a toxic environment (removed the company from everything) after only 4 days of work. I’m actively job searching but not receiving ideal hits. I see a lot of senior level L&D roles but not as many for specialist roles, specifically in tech. I have 5.5 years of experience. Any advice for me? I’m also seeking therapy for the trauma & coping, now ready for securing that next role!

Hi all! I have an opportunity to work for a tech company as a l&d specialist. They are quoting 70-75k. But I have 8 years experience. Does that seem like a fair number? Sounds low to me but I wanted to check.

My company’s SOP template has a table of contents and a section at the top where the SOP owner is supposed to add a short statement containing the “Why” of the SOP, meaning a statement about what the SOP is supposed to solve for/ accomplish. A co-worker recently told me that it should also contain a checklist of the 4-5 main points of what the team member should know how to do after reading the SOP…. This seems really redundant to me. Thoughts?
