Deals will always need a throat to choke. I think we will be fine for a while yet!
Maybe you’d consider this to still be “dying” but in some ways I think audit (and FDD) will never completely die and are actually less at-risk than consulting because there’s a regulatory requirement for attest services. Staffs will get leaner and fees may get trimmed, but I do think that the work will always be there.
To your point, I think highly specialized teams in b4 will become more and more valuable. Everyone will have access to unlimited knowledge/ facts through AI, but clients will pay the experienced teams who can best apply those facts to their situation and deliver results.
Maybe a specialized FDD group would be a good pivot for you, I know EY has some.
I agree that things will fundamentally change significantly. Lower fees also means lower compensation, with a significant focus on margins.
Margins have been thinning and differentiation has become less apparent. FDD seems more like a check the box thing but probably won't go anywhere
Slimmer teams for sure, but if you stay in the top 50-70% ur prob safe for a while
