Ha no. I'm expected to work 25 hours a day, no excuses.

Yes they do have your best interest at heart. No that’s not an expectation to work while you’re sick. You just need someone to cover the work is all.

funny

Can't expect much from large corporations, tech, finance, resources, all of them are only in for shareholder profit, nothing else.

There maybe good managers, but no company, especially North American could give you a true sense of value as a human being. If you produce value for them, they value your talent/ experience, not you.

Absolutely not - there are obviously good managers, directors, and a few executives, but “corporate interest” is C-suite compensation and shareholders large enough to shake the boat.

Hahahaha. Nope why I’m looking for a new job. I’m at about 8 years exp with a PE. Literally switched linkedin looking for work last Tuesday. Had like 5 recruiter calls by Wednesday night. One told me he had probably like 10 positions for me based on my geographic criteria and experience.

No. It's not a company's job to care what is best for their employees. However, it is in the companies best interest to treat their employees like they do have their best interest in mind, because it makes happy employees who are more productive - which benefits the company. But most companies would rather save a buck on some short term goal than look at the 5 year picture when management inevitably changes anyway.

As far as sick at work, no. It would be illegal to make sick people go to work if they have to be around others. But there should also be a minimum amount of sick time available for all employees - hourly and salary - so this is reasonable to execute. I'd say there are very few places anymore that way sick people at work.

I mean if we are sick we aren't expected to work but I don't trust that they keep our best inerests in mind because of that lol. At the end of the day a company is going to do what is best for them regradless of what is best for their employees. I learned that a long time ago.

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?
