Do you typically receive a sign on bonus at B4 when coming in as an experienced hire (more specifically at the Senior Associate level)?

Currently 25 y/o making 70k/year in Boston. I grew up pretty poor and I have minimal financial education. A lot of my salary now goes towards helping my parents get out of debt. My parents are no longer able to live on their own, so considering selling my grandmas house where they live (maybe 550k), paying off their mortgage (100k) and buying a duplex (between them they make about 55k/year). Is buying a two family home a good investment ? How much can I afford to spend on a new house?

1099 or w-2 ? I have been given the option though the company prefers w-2. It’s a day rate booking couple of months or more (no end date). I already have 1099 from similar company this year and am leaning towards 1099, but I don’t want to be difficult. I do take home office deduction and they are not supplying any equipment. Hi all! I need some advice. I came in at a lower level than I wanted and turns out, I did a shitty deal at negotiating. I’m up for a promotion (title but not salary bc of COVID) - when salary increases are a thing, how much should I negotiate for? Like percentage wise, with the fact that I’m about 7-10K underpaid compared to other people with the current title?

Lateral that just went through first bonus season with the firm. Not in a major market but workload is comparable to major markets. Surprised at how low the bonus was. I received solid reviews and my annualized hours were well above the requirement. Should I approach anyone about this? Wondering if it is worth addressing or if it could compromise my standing. What would someone 2-3 years of experience be looking for in a role outside of consulting comp wise? Trying to price out a role to be competitive but not break the bank.

I recently gave my small firm notice that I am leaving and moving to another state. I mentioned that I am considering starting my own practice in the new area, and the managing partner suggested that I transition to an “of counsel” position at a 1099 hourly rate (remote) while I got started. I thought the rate was a bit low, but I’m not sure what to compare it to. Anybody have any experience with these arrangements? Any advice on how to structure? Or if it’s worth it? For context — I SDR’d as a senior in college and was promoted to AE right as I took a BA offer from McKinsey. I joined EY GDS 10 months back at 40% hike (leaving PwC) and now Deloitte (DIJV) is offering me 2 level up designation at Manager level with another 40% hike. This has effectively doubled my salary in the last one year bt still I am confused to switch or not considering the amazing bonuses GDS payed off today. Please suggest.

Can you single out a company that you can confidently say pays very well and also has good wlb and also has good opportunities etc.?
