I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? I strongly advise you to stay a bit longer in consulting, say >5 year, so that you can go to industry as a more senior go-to-market leader, not just Senior AE or account manager (if you exit after 2 years).
Thanks for input. Curious why? Wouldn’t it be better to get some consulting exp within M&S practice coupled with 2-3 yrs of high performing AE experience before i make move to sales leadership?
Yes, I went from consulting to sales, though I'm not an AE (I support the sales folks and fall under "Sales" broadly defined but am not responsible for a certain quota).
I'd say it depends on what type of sales role you want to exit too. If you really love sales and don't like consulting, there's no reason to force yourself to stay in an industry you don't like. I'm glad I left.
Thanks for input. Are you in sales ops / strategy? I was at series A startup so it was only AEs and Product folks. Curious if you enjoy what you’re doing & if comp is as attractive as well-performing AEs?
