Do you use ours against your assets in your long term portfolio? I have heard so many say both ways. Yes the cost is great due to the negative correlation and offsetting the losses in a big drawback others say if you are DCA why bother you buy low and why not self insure

*puts. Stupid auto correct always changes it to ours

like

I haven’t but been trying to figure this out, too

For me it’s less about protecting the value of my portfolio and more about having cash available to buy during a correction. Still working through if it’s cheaper to have the cash on hand, buy puts on the market, or do something around the VIX.

like

That’s interesting concept to. I’ve thought about putting 10% of my contributions into dry powder to be able to take advantage of corrections as well but my issue is it’s subjectivity. When will the market correction be? How many big return days will I miss out on?

Some of the fixed index annuities can offer pretty attractive floors and ceilings which is what got me thinking of it

If so what durations are you using?

What's ours?

What about selling out of the money calls? Serves as a hedge and brings in some income. But needs management to roll up and out if it gets out of hand.

I do this against AMZN as it’s a big overweight in my portfolio.

Could make sense. I’d probably do a spread to define the risk from the hedge.

Based on the Gross salary offered I have calculated the in hand salary per month would be around 152000 considering 150000 in 80C, 50000 in NPS and 200000 deductions due to home loan interest. Total tax liability is around 400000. Any other options do I have to save tax further (other than HRA, LTA)? Thanks in advance.

What is everyone’s take on the NYC housing market? More people and businesses are moving out. I’d imagine it has to continue to dip. Also, they’re considering turning adding more units by converting commercial space into residential space. Inventory is going to be through the roof for rentals. I’d think that has to ultimately impact home prices.

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.
