Weekend work at R/GA usually gets informal comp days that you work out with your manager when it slows down again. Feast or famine.
I hate that it’s usually kind of taboo to even ask, as if it’s ludicrous to ask for your personal time back.
yeah if someone works over a holiday at wkny, they do usually get comp time
Has been given out at various agencies I’ve worked at when people have been asked to grind over weekends/holidays for a pitch or big client deliverable. But often at a rate of about 1 day: 2 worked though…
I’ve never worked at an agency with a formal process but most give Flex Time. Say you work very late on Monday then Friday you take those hours back at a PTO of sorts. I don’t work for free anymore though either. I always take my time.
We have unlimited PFO so comp time is moot. People will put in for as many days as they see fit.
Pro
I always give my teams comp days when the dust settles. It’s not company policy. But it is my policy.
I tell everyone that they have 2 to however many days it warrants. (depending on the overall effort)
We do have unlimited PTO, which is a scam. So I tell them I do expect them to take days because I need them recharged. Not drained like a Celsius in Murray Hill.
And then (choose one) I expect a book report or candid pics of dogs on walks. Preferably in Lisbon. Or Pennsylvania. Really don’t care about location.
I.e, your leads need to advocate for days to be given and taken. You choose the time and length and it’s on us to figure it out.
We do comp days generally after a pitch or long grind, usually at discretion of manager and not through a formal process
Comp time? That went away when agencies rolled out FTO.
