Does anyone actually read cover letters? I’ve spent hours tailoring letters only to realize that the recruiter probably spends 0.4 seconds looking at my resume before hitting delete. I’m tempted to start putting a recipe for chocolate chip cookies in the middle of my letters just to see if anyone notices. Is it safe to stop writing these?

I include the cover letter when it explicitly asks for one. Outside of that, I wouldn’t go out of way to write one.

More important to find a referral, and match the resume to the Job Description using AI tools

If you have something to say, write a cover letter. Its purpose is to highlight things that may not be obvious from the bare bones format of a resume. It's a chance to show some personality, but if you're not good at writing letters, it's probably best to forego it.

I’ve never even written one.

I don’t read them

Over the past year, my counsel is constantly judged by a select few senior business folks (eg arguing over FTC compliance, IP risk counsel, and even simple things regarding NDAs that any attorney wouldn’t question. It’s very frustrating that my own team is the one I have to defend my logic to (and not opposing counsel). It feels like they want a rubber stamper, which is not me.I never faced this at my prior in-house roles (probably because they were much a larger). Any advice on how to handle?

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

Hey all! I have an interview with
Deloitte in Regulatory Risk and more precisely in their Investment Management Services team. I would like to know if anyone
knows what the job entails exactly. I keep hearing about people "fooled" into taking a job in risk advisory thinking it'll really be advisory while they only end up doing IT and Audit support (which I do not want to do).
Is it the case here?
Thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.
