I used to do this but I had this problem as a teenager. I called 10 new numbers every week for 3 months such as stores asking them about hours or a specific product. Then I stopped needing a script and the anxiety went away.
I do. I hate phoning, especially for busines / professional reasons, I always rather write an email or a text.
But sometimes I just need to phone, so I do it, and I can assure you I’m stressed out until the end!
I often write down bullet points to help me keep track of want I want to say + it helps me to organize my thoughts before the call.
Sometimes especially lately people are using their personal phones. I text with recruiters regularly. I’d save phone conversations for QA so the agenda is clear. A phone call is like a meeting always have something you want to get out of it. It’s not a script it’s a few words, a list of questions. Most recruiters are extroverts and have great conversation skills.
I used to have this. Use the script method. Eventually you’ll be able to write a script on the fly in your head, without thinking much about it.
