My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

Anyone else feel like you come up with these amazing ideas, only to brush it off... Then fast forward a few years and see that it's now an $XXX million dollar company, getting another round of funding by a bunch of VCs and ramping up hiring of their 500+ employee base?

This is literally the 10th time this is happening to me. WTF am I doing with my life?!? Why am I stuck a slave, instead of following these persuits?

For anyone who practices tax lit in the US Tax Court, what’s your experience with the independent office of appeals? They don’t seem quite that “independent” to me and so far, I’ve only had one appeals officer who seemed knowledgeable and nice. It’s been a real headache. When the IRS (e.g., a RO/AO/Examiner) calls or writes a letter… How do you verify that it’s really the IRS and not a scam? I’m new to tax law and I’m worried that I’m going to respond to/answer a scam and give away client info (or my own tax preparer info).
