A successful small startup in NYC doing PE/niche executive recruiting and 2. a fairly reputable PE consulting group in Austin. I’m going through the recruitment process at McKinsey for a middle/back office role (capabilities for a really cool space) but by the time I hear back, one of my offers won’t be on the table. Any advice on what’s best for MBA apps?

Partner I met with was rushed from the start like he had already made up his mind. One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients).
