Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).
Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.
Thanks for the help!

Get an mba from Stanford GSB and crush it on the networking front lol
@tc1 lol I’ll work on that. Kaplan GMAT prep here I come
Movement to VC is very hard. If you have a top secret security clearance and have worked in the intelligence community In-Q-Tel could be an option. Otherwise Stanford GSB will give you the best odds (I’d guess around a 5-10% success rate).
I have been consulting for over a year (I know, not too long) but have some college experience at startup and studied capital market financing during undergrad. What are some steps I should start taking?
Good luck OP!
While GSB lies at the center of the startup universe, HBS has put a lot of effort into becoming more startup-friendly. There’s a massive engineering building going up across the street, which should foster some very interesting collaboration.
