Very good to know and thank you for bringing awareness
Yes- going to go take my blood pressure right now
I’m so sorry this happened to you. I was told to take a baby aspirin (81 mg) every day to prevent it. I’m advanced maternal age (I’m 35) and the condition is more common in older moms. I hope you’re feeling ok now?
Getting there thank you. Been in hospital for a few days! I'm 30 years old and have no other obvious risk factors. Just very random! Good to know about the aspirin!
What was the treatment for postnatal preeclampsia?
I know that when you’re pregnant the treatment is immediate delivery.
Treatment so far has been BP medication to get BP within normal range. Also when in the acute stage I got medication to prevent strokes/seizures.
Prognosis is it goes away within a few months and I slowly am weaned off the medication.
I had preeclampsia while pregnant that forced me into early delivery. It did not abate after delivery so I was in the hospital a week (with two different magnesium drips, ugh) and took nifedepine twice daily for about a month. BP finally went down and I’m all better now. Taking your BP and being on medication isn’t so terrible, just keep an eye on other symptoms like headaches, seeing stars or pain under your rib cage. I never thought mine would go back to normal but it finally did.
