Does anyone know how Chief of Staff (AVP) functions in Barclays IB? I mean is the role good? Learning, ownership, and all the good stuff or is it just execution-heavy? Feel free to reply if you know about similar roles in different practice/vertical? Looking for some REAL insights.

Friend of mine was supposed to receive an offer (told verbally) from Deloitte and then just found out they are pausing on hiring the role. How common is that? Seems wildly unprofessional that none of the partners called and instead it was the recruiter conveying that news. At McKinsey, if that happened, the head of the practice or the office would personally make the phone call at the very least.
