Does anyone understand the end of the movie Saving Private Ryan? It’s on tv. It’s like… it’s worth it for this ragtag group of 20 guys to fight to the death for this bridge. Unless most of us die. Then we’re blowing up the bridge. What???Why didn’t they just go find their units?

That’s like the key point in the movie. Best line of that movie is when tom hanks tells Matt Damon “earn this”. Not sure I like the way you are talking about this. We can’t be friends. Ever.

That's a typical strategy back then. If you can't hold it for your side to use, then destroy it so it makes it harder for the other side to cross the river.

And they are defending the line. Doesn't matter if they are with their original unit.

I’m M64 and missed serving in the military but I know people and understand the mental character it takes to accomplish an important mission, regardless of the cost. I understand that it’s hard to relate to that kind of sacrifice - that doesn’t say anything bad about you. Sometimes there is nobody else to do something than if you do it. Matters so much more when the lives of people who live and die with you depend on you.

On a tiny scale, some of us will power through a really difficult physical task when others are ready to quit. It could be something non physical too. I can’t tell you the times I sacrificed or defended my children in the past. They, in turn, carry that example with them and their own lives and family.

Has anyone taken part of the education reimbursement program? I’ve been here for 4 years and I’m thinking of obtaining my Master’s in Organizational Leadership, but I feel like with this merger, if I started the program and then there are layoffs or too many new hires, or work just becomes overwhelming, I wouldn’t be able to complete my program. I’m already wearing multiple hats when it comes to work. Does anyone have insight on how it works/what it’s like? Thanks in advance!

Is there a special title at your company for a Project Manager that works on product development and not an IT project manager?

An example might include launching a new product from conception through form writing, rating, filing, programming, training, and implementation, or the transfer of products from an acquisitions writing company to ours.

So I have family situation I've been dealing with and yesterday at a company function outside the office, my supervisor brought it up in front of a bunch of people. First of all highly inappropriate, but also it's nobody's business. She's made comments before outside of work about how her boss is gay, blah blah blah. I'm just at a loss. Should I report it to HR? And if I do, how do I do it without it being known that it came from me??

Love how BS credit score is. Got my score up to 800 last month only to go on vacation so my credit utilization went up to 8% due to the increased spending and my score dropped 35 points because I didn’t immediately pay the balance after charging the purchases. I always pay my balance in full each month and have never missed a payment, how is 8% credit utilization determined to be that big of a risk that my score got immediately wrecked, I don’t understand

Hi 👋. I posted here a few weeks ago about being nervous conducting a PIP conversation with my team member.
I did it this week and let me just say it was the weirdest conversation ever. The guy is usually argumentative and tries to disprove every bit of feedback. But this time he just sat there and asked no questions and said nothing.
Maybe he’s looking for new jobs already - don’t mind this at all and this would be a good outcome for him overall.

Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?

My LinkedIn feed was absolutely filled with layoffs today. What happened? A month or two ago it was a candidate’s market and the offers were great but now everything has shifted. I was informed that I am not getting a promotion that I was gunning for, and when I pushed back about being fairly compensated for my work the response about it not being a good time to ask was really ominous. When I was hired, I don't recall being informed about my salary being tied to my location. My employment contract also only makes one mention of location, and says "home office" and my state. I was recently told by HR though that if I move, my comp. will be lower. Is this legal? Should I consult a labor lawyer?

In my mind, I don't recall being told this and it's not clear from my employment contract, so I feel like they're breaking our agreement, and it feels unfair.
