Does anyone unintentionally skip words when typing? I am constantly surprised by how my written emails and messages contain missing words even though I thought I typed them out as I said them to myself in my head. Is this an adhd thing or just me?

I do it all the time but I also add double words sometimes so I have to re-read my emails really closely every time. Not sure if it's an ADHD thing, but it does seem to match the way my mind races lol

All the time! I heard it’s your brain moving faster than your hands, the same with reading your eyes, move slower than your brain and you can skip words

like

It definitely feels like that’s the reason. I’m glad it’s not just me! I have to remember to take a breath and consciously slow down.

ALL OF THE TIME. Mostly when I’m on meds. My brain moves faster than I type. I’ve learned to proof proof proof emails

like

Yes, exactly! I have to proofread multiple times because often my brain is still moving faster than my eyes and I will unintentionally “read” it the way I think it’s supposed to be rather than how it is

like

If you frequently misspell the same words over and over (particularly if you misspell it to a different word), you can make a custom autocorrect entry in word.

Certain words I botch ALL THE TIME, so when I type them in, my autocorrect turns them bold/caps/red. It’s a nice little “did you mean to do that?”

As part of my proof process when I’m not in Word, I Ctrl+F my “problem words” and read the sentence they’re in to catch screwups.

What helps a lot for me is the following prompt to either Claude or gpt: "please correct the grammar and point out any unclear language in the following". If you ask to make minimal changes, it doesn't change your style too much.

Can anyone offer advice for helping with adderall side effects? I was diagnosed a few months ago and I am new to medication. I have been taking 20 mg xr in the morning but have a terrible crash around 2/3pm each day where I just get very very tired. Doctor recommended 10mg ir mid day to combat but I still experience pretty severe fatigue as a side effect. Just wondering if anyone has found any natural strategies to cope or mitigate. Thanks!

One of the things that my ADD coach helped me with was realizing that I wasn’t prioritizing activities that help me feel recharged. Between work and home responsibilities, I was just burnt out and overwhelmed.

So now when I start to get burned out I focus on reducing auditory overwhelm, getting outside, listen to music, get comfortable, read a fun book, etc.

As we’re heading into the weekend, what are some things you do to recharge and give yourself a break?

After 4 years I want to leave law because of my adhd! I have been to 4 different firms and at each place I feel like I have been “found out”. At every place at least one attorney catches me about my attention to detail. I am so down on myself now. I can’t bring myself to care about small details that I know don’t actually matter. Sitting at a desk all day in word documents is the ultimate form of torture to me. My strengths are talking to people. I am super outgoing. Looking for a new career
