Does anyone use Westlaw’s CoCounsel platform? If so, how effective is it?

I did a demo, it was pretty impressive. It was kind of like getting a memo from a first year associate.

Honestly I feel like firms who don’t use these types of tools will fall behind. I have so much more freedom to explore potential legal arguments that the client otherwise wouldn’t pay to have a junior look into.

It’s useful! It feels like your typical WestLaw search but you don’t have to be as exact. For CoCounsel, you just type what your question is (recommend including what Jurisdiction you’re in) and it produces results in a more organized format, with some caveats/context.

like

I use it all the time and have since last Aug! The summarize and legal memos tool are the most useful.

Has anyone used it to prepare for depo or a depo outline?

Have you ever taken a career slow down? I am feeling burnt out from COVID and the incremental responsibilities thrown my way over the last 5+ years. I feel like my health has deteriorated. I like my company, but I want to do less. I don’t need to be a HR Director, CHRO, etc. With a career slowdown, I am prepared for a lower compensation and would want decent benefits. Any lessons learned or success stories about career slowdowns?

What are the tldr differences between HR roles, people Operations, and people business partner positions? They all seem similar but I’m curious how y’all characterize them. I’m coming out of a very internal position at a nonprofit and I’m trying to better align my work accomplishments to make sense in more traditional career paths.

I’m applying for a job that requires a writing sample. I would like to submit a sample that was filed and used in a case. The problem is, all of the samples I can submit also include a partner in the signature block and were reviewed before filing. Any tips on writing a cover letter explaining that, aside from minor revisions by the partner, the writing is my own?

Does anyone work at a firm where legal assistants don't do legal assistant things? For example, I have to do my scheduling and calendaring. I have to upload documents to our file management system. This morning, a name partners assistant didn't realize the name partner had a depo and didn't confirm it. This is how this firm as been for decades and it's incredibly frustrating to work this way. It's so hard to not stress over this daily.

Thanks for your recommendations.
