Does anyone work at Morgan Stanley that can provide clarity?
I’m interviewing for an EA role that is 6 months minimum contract before they would even consider converting to permanent to avoid paying the recruiting company the early termination fee. Why would they structure new hires this way? Is this company-wide or just administrative? Don’t they have internal recruiters? What kind of quality candidates are they reasonably expecting to work for no benefits for 6 entire months?

I can't answer for Morgan Stanley, but my company has done this for our office assistant roles. My specific site has only done it once and you'd be surprised by the quality that we get. The one we did this with is one of the best. He is such good quality that a year later our marketing team is stealing him to work on events. As for the reason on why they go this route, it's rare for us to do the contract to hire, but they often do it for roles that have had turnover issues or if we want to fill it with someone we believe would be a good fit, but on paper they might be borderline.

Additional Posts in EAs / Executive Assistants

I’ve heard salaries have gone up quite a bit in the midst of the pandemic and I’m wondering if this is true for EAs as well. There’s a myriad of data online about EA salaries depending on age/experience but I’m interested in salaries from jobs accepted in 2020/2021 specifically!

Please feel free to share:

- Your salary from any job accepted in 2020/2021
- Any offers you may have received but rejected
- Your length of experience

Thank you!

Welp! Finally got the axe today too. I didn’t even get to talk to my manager. One of the execs I support told me he’s very sorry and I was great, etc etc, but it couldn’t be avoided. Whatever. I kind of never want to work again. I’m heartbroken.

Need some feedback! So I was forced to move jobs about 6 months ago due to reorg and the new leader opting to bring their existing EA with them, without even meeting me. If stayed at the company but accepted an offer for a job outside of the department I was in. I’ve now been asked by a manager from my old department to apply for a job they’re opening that would be a 2 step promotion. She thought she got my managers permission to approach me (see comments)
