Not sure D1, my practice PPED could care less and approved any transfer - but we fly pretty much every week. Getting out of NYC may be tough if their practice does a lot of business there.

Agreed with EY OP, it's all based on your practice and need. If it's a life change situation like a family member sick or you get married and spouse has a job elsewhere usually they are reasonable. We had a lot of people move to west coast recently and our ppeds told everyone that they may not be approving transfers for awhile due to volume of transfers.
FSO has a practice in Boston and at one point was moving people from nyc to build it out. Check with your CFL or team lead
You will likely see little to no pay increases for a bit while they get you into the pay band for your new office. Just be ready for that and don't complain, it would be career limiting if you try to make your personal choice their yearly hassle.
