Let your managers manage or mismanage, it is their decision

You’re leaving. It doesn’t matter. Just make it through the week and light up a cigar (or whatever your celebratory vice is) and have a good time.
OP, professional courtesy - you need to let your employer figure out a game plan before communicating to the client. In the meanwhile, do your job. Including the new stuff coming your way.
I'm in the same spot. It's tough because we're already short staffed, so I empathize with my leaders. Ultimately, I'm putting together a transition play book, and that is all I can do
I respectfully disagree with most comments. It is your resignation/ your news. I think after giving a week to your employer, maintaining those client relationships is equally as important as not making ppl mad at your current firm. I would send a note to your manager saying things started to come up from the client that they were discussing for next week and you feel it’s best to tel them sooner rather than later. Also offer again in that email to draft up a transition plan by end of day tomorrow.
I’ll definitely be pushing the envelope on this come end of day today, if they don’t have a plan by today they’re not going to have one by Monday and I’m simply not waiting till the last second to tell the client
Who cares. 🤷♀️🤷♀️. It's no longer your problem or issue.
A former employer did this to me even after I’d started the new job. Asked me to wait on posting to LinkedIn until they figured out how to proceed.
In retrospect, I should have maintained control of my narrative.
Thanks all for the thoughts! Just gotta roll with it I suppose, certainly not ideal but it is what it is

This sounds like a lot of “not your problem”.
I completely disagree with this SM3, you don’t have to go out like that and completely flame the company. I think with plenty of time left still, give your company until tomorrow end of day and then you tell the client. See my comment above. I’ve been in this situation before and while you have to tread carefully, you always want to maintain respect from the client. You got this OP!
Speaking with main partner on the project shortly and will voice that same concern. Thanks again!
Keep us posted!
It’s not your concern. Let management handle the relationship. The client won’t blame you for your departure.

Make sure you let the client know that you did not want to leave in that way and that you would have liked to tel them sooner.
If your firm is burning the bridge, that’s on them, no reason you need to as well
