Longer answer: RSU grants are a separate decision/process from promo and raises. L7 is the 1st level you're *eligible*, and you MIGHT get them, but it is NOT guaranteed, may not even be a coin flip.
Should it be automatic, since new hire L7's get them? Yes. But it's not. Welcome to the Ohana, where your pay is less competitive with the market the longer you stay with the company.
Thanks for the response. I had a gut feeling this is how its going to be. I am thinking of clarifying this with my manager once. If this is the case, its not worth staying with SF, better to get a higher pay at partner firms.
Senior Director and up get more consistent refreshes. Under that only expect a grant when you run out or do something truly exceptional.
So for that level of promo, I would not expect any RSUs.
