I can't remember the last time I saw one, and I shop at Walmart semi-regularly. I think that position is pretty much gone.
Huh. It never really registered to me until I saw your question, but I haven't seen greeters at Walmart in quite a long time. I wonder why they decided to do away with the role. It was such a great position for people who might struggle to do more demanding retail positions.
It was essentially a PR campaign when they were getting a lot of backlash but billionaires are back in fashion. And are now a protected class.

I've been to walmart quite a bit recently and have not seen any greeters

I see them rarely in store. They have converted some of the older staff into asset protection roles and given them new vest to deter theft.
I never really saw them at any in my recent memory, My city banned Walmart decades ago. But wasn’t that more of a public relations thing so people didn’t hate Walmart as much? In my memory it was older retired or differently abled people. No offense if that applies to you but if it does, I have other suggestions.

I’ve seen greeters there every time I’ve been in the past few months.
Those positions are tied to the lost prevention office.
