Anyone from Boston Consulting Group Boston Consulting Group (BCG) working in non-consulting - Technology/Engineering/Global Services?
How's the work life balance? Glassdoor reviews are full of "long working hours" and hence wanted to know if it's the same with non-consulting folks as well? How far is it true across the organisation?
Please help me shed some light to decide.
Thanks.
Guys did you hear the big news???

This thread is interesting, strange and hilarious all at one time. I will be honest, there are so many lunches out, client dinners, breakfast meetings, etc that sometimes a simple sandwich and chips sounds really good. Eating out every meal gets old after a while - the ham sandwich is breaking the monotony!
I think there certain assumptions that exist about lifestyle of PPEDs. They (you) eat gold off gold, defecate gold, and then eat more gold chased with fresh blood of staff, seniors, and managers. Sr managers do not donate blood cause they're already being trained for eating gold etc.
They're plenty of partners in our office that dress rather simply, drive cars suitable to mortals, and eat freaking sandwiches. OP gotta grow up.
I stand for Partners' right to have a sandwich, be it turkey, roast beef, grilled chicken, tuna, BLT, Bologna, breakfast sandwich, cheese dream, tuna melt, avocado toast, chicken quesadilla, burger, cheesesteak, clam roll, chowmein, club, crab cake, Cuban, cudighi, dagwood, Denver's, diablo, fluffernut, frenchdip, fried brain, Gerber, ham and cheese, hamdog, dog brown, hotdogs, italian, Mexican, French, curry fry, chicken tikka, pizza role, jalapeno role, cuzzini, munchies, hero sandwich, hero burger, open face, side face, mixcurry, plaid, stripper's delight, roast pepper, California classic, falafel gyro, halal sub, goat cheese... or even a ham sandwich
This is a "partner track" type of post
So many neurotic people in this industry.
20+ comments? Damn. Yall are really triggered by this ham sandwich!
I don’t see the issue. Honestly they usually have a lot to do, so spending 30 min to get lunch when they can pull out a sandwhich usually is not more efficient. I don’t think it is a issue about the money. If it is about saving money, I also believe everyone deserves the right to be frugal if they so wish.
just bought a DELUXE ham sandwich. Please let me know when my admittance to the partnership goes into effect. Receipt is attached for your reference. Tnx bye.
If they don’t tell you what to eat then why are you compelled to tell them. How about it is none of your business and get back to doing something meaningful like perhaps the job you are being paid to complain about.
Was it free range ham?
As someone who prefers to eat food from home to save money, I hate the fact that I 100% feel pressured to buy lunch like most of the team. I’m turning to meal prepping meals just so the stigma of looking poor af by eating a sandwich is slightly alleviated.
Empires have fallen, novel virus is spreading, Big4 is WFH, yet we continue discussing the sandwich.
I'm curious whether the ham eating partner knows he/she is a celebrity.
I dunno, but last week I saw a partner with a tell tale brown bag. Chuckled all day. 😂
That bugs you? Well if that’s all, they are saints! 🤣
Is the sandwich home-made? think the partner could be eating the sandwich to decrease the risk of getting sick. It is flu season and a ton of my colleagues bring lunch from home because of this reason.
Let the man/woman eat they little sandwich.
Honestly can’t roll my eyes enough at this
Honestly, who cares what they eat?
Who tf cares???
The only thing harder than making money is saving money. I appreciate the fact that he’s being frugal.
I am guessing it’s mostly a time issue. I usually take my lunch, typically leftovers or soups or frozen burritos I make to take to work. It’s better than most things I could buy and cheaper. Never mind lunch takes 15 minutes versus an hour or more.
I had teams that would come in at 9 or 9:30 go out to lunch the waste an hour for dinner then complain it was 9 and they had to work late to get their 12 hours. I had other teams get in at 7, bring lunch and leave by 7:30. It’s all about priorities. In addition to saving money it saves time.
What?! Why would you care at all what another person is eating??
I like to splurge on certain things (arguably a lot of different things), where I see a benefit of spending more. When it comes to food alone, I’ve had some really expensive meals. But I can’t justify spending $13 on a salad when I can make the exact same thing at home for $3. I don’t like to waste money just because I technically could afford it.
don’t see partners doing that but i even hate seeing staff eating ham sandwiches , like $10 isn’t going to break you
You never know. They may already be broken and just haven’t shared it with you. And honestly some people enjoy eating ham sandwich. So let them be!
How dare them be financially responsible!
