Honestly depends on your situation. It’s only as bad as the situation makes it. If you’re unassigned nobody will give a f. If you are the signing partner on an IPO that’s filing next week, the firm will probably sue you. Most people will be somewhere in between. Ultimately you gotta do what’s best for you.
Why wouldn’t you give a two week notice? It’s better to leave on good terms
In such an incredibly 'small world' you should be professional and give the two weeks. Then it's up to your firm whether they keep you or just let you go straight away. But you'll have done the right thing. You don't want to risk burning any bridges. It's crazy how often I bump into folks later on at different clients/firms etc.
Two weeks is professional courtesy. If you don’t give it it’s considered rude in the professional world. It’s really not worth the risk frankly
No, it’s not really bad but if you’re in a position you can, you should, just out of curiosity and to do one last dance that’s expected of you.
Everyone was giving shit (SM said he was making a bad move and so on) to guy who left even with a two week notice... on top of the added pressure to do everything before you leave. If you’re already checked out, I think it’s not nearly as bad. BUT then again, some day, that SM can end up in industry as your boss.
