THEY LIED
Yeh they lie straight to your face. My office for staff 1 -> staff 2 was between 7-10%. Everyone who got 7% was told “there is just no way to differentiate yourself at this level” total BS
It may be that they started at a different salary for some reason and got a different % raise to even them out.
Yes, the partner in my comp talk told me the exact same thing. I intentionally asked what the spread was after I received my number because I already knew at that point that 3 other people in the same situation as me (campus hires, started at same salary) received different raises from me - some higher, some lower. And I was told, “everyone is getting the same raise.” Fake news
3% differential on most staff1 bases equates to less than $100 per paycheck before taxes. There’s plenty of things to complain about in PA but you’re wasting your energy here.
Unbelievable with this new rating system. Even when you’re way higher than your peers they will still find a way to skew it down because they think it’s not objective enough then why did you implement the system in the first place?
We were all campus recruits with the same starting salaries
EY9 they're amazing. I'd guess they produce awesome work papers, have great attitudes, go out of their way to help their seniors, etc., instead of just waiting to be told what to do.
They did a better job buddying up with the higher ups
Does anyone know why a certain small number of staff 1s got higher raises? What did they do to differentiate themselves?
What if you got basically the exact same feedback in person and on reviews as you did with another coworker? This person and I are extremely close and share everything, were on the same team, etc, and got different raises. How do they make decisions like that? Genuinely wondering what all goes into it so I know for next year
EY8 they will literally ask managers+ to rank people. If that person likes you better, guess who gets the higher raise?
Has anyone experienced something similar?
yep
i know of people that supposed got 2%-5% more and have new higher bases than i do
I’ve never asked about other people in my comp talks, I always just try to get more based on my performance and market value
Maybe it’s a gender thing? Sounds like it’s a problem at the partner levels in the firm so maybe it’s trickling down?
