PwC fishes, I am new to the firm. Just heard from a colleague that people will be put on PIP if they get a rating of 4, and will be let go if they get a rating of 5. Is that true?

I’d estimate 85% (there are real stats somewhere, but didn’t want go look for them) of people get put T3 or higher. T4 and T5 is generally reserved for individuals with bigger issues identified rather than just relative performance/ impact to peers.

I wouldn’t think you need to worry about that so early on unless you’re not planning on attempting to work for your paycheck 😉

Yes. But you can get over a PIP.

Well I’m usually an over performer and I have imposter syndrome. So loss of confidence is not necessarily a bad thing. You have to eat some humble pie each year you make it.

lol why are you worrying about this at this stage. planning to get fired?

Generally, yes.

People being let go, in this job market?

We aren’t laying off to my knowledge, but it may be isolated to specific businesses that aren’t as busy as others and skill sets are redeployable.

There is a grid that has the tier weightings. Maybe 5% are tier 4, with tier 5 reserved for a serious situation that warrants an immediate termination.

My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?

I recently sign a lease. The apartment will put my security deposit into an interest-bearing account and requires me to fill out a form W9. I will join EY this June and just wondering if this is ok in terms of the independence rule. I guess the apartment will put my deposit in some sort of funds. Anyone with EY has experience? Reading the independence brochure, looks like it does not specify something related to this scenario but just wanted to confirm . TIA!
