Ended up picking the wrong USAO out of about 7 or 8 offers I had when I made the jump to AUSA (criminal) a little over a year ago. I don’t want to out myself, but my reasoning for wanting to leave is very specific/unique and should be understandable in interviews for new positions. But, I am only about a year in. How soon can I change districts? I have no ties to my current district (I do to others) nor do I have any current time commitment.

How have conversations with Human Resources been about this? Assuming that you’re looking at a lateral move there shouldn’t be too much stress about changing offices. If it’s not about the practice area or the office work then generally Human Resources should have a person that can understand your position to help facilitate amicable terms for leaving the current office. Government work pays better the longer you stay in a position so I figure if it’s not about the money your request is about professional development and work culture so best of luck if so.

One year with a great performance appraisal is good . Just explain that there was a change in circumstances beyond your control and you need XYZ. No need to be unhappy because of how a potential office may perceive your move. Go for it!

I had coworkers in other agencies who just asked our supervisor to speak with the head at our regional offices about switching because of person reasons (family care, spouses job moving, etc). They were always really good about it. Usually they'd do a mix of work for our office and their new office until the other office had a vacancy and then I they'd take it.

A CRO offerred me an internal consulting/biz dev role. They offered 145k TC (20% bump) and slightly better benefits. They also offered accelerated path (6mo to 1yr) to MC. While promotion to MC at my current company is at least 1 year away. The job is interesting to me and fits my careery goal. But my big concern is that I've only been with my current company for a year (this is my first job, post PhD). Would this affect my resume in the future in terms of being viewed as "job hopping"?

I’m a Junior product manager with a Master’s in Healthcare Management. I feel like the current company that I am at has my title as JPM, but I am doing PM work i.e creating product roadmaps, collaborating across stakeholders (business, marketing, design teams), creating user stories/features, etc. and I feel like my work isn’t being valued and I’m constantly being micromanaged by business teams expectations.

How feasible is it for me to apply to a PM role with less than a year of experience?

Hi Fishes,

I am a QA engineer in an edutech company. I have an experience of 7.5 years (manual testing- database, front end, mobile and api testing).

I want to move to a BA role. I have good communication skills and an analytical mind. Below are 3 of my biggest questions.

1. Is it too late to switch to a BA role?
2. What are the skills, tools or certifications required?
3. How should I approach a job opening, given that I have no work experience as a BA.

Pls do pitch in your thoughts

Hi! I’ve been in hospitality & management for over 10 years and desperate for a career pivot. As anyone in restaurants knows, the work is ~80 hours a week and often making less on salary than your own tipped-wage employees. I have experience with training, team building, HR, financial analytics, client needs, communications and so much more. Does anyone have recommendations on a new career path or job listings to investigate??

Got a temp offer for less than a year without promise of turning into full-time. Wanted to know what ppl think about temp jobs (looks bad on resume if I don't turn full-time later within the company?) and what comp should look like (e.g. 1.2× of regular comp?).

Got another perm offer in a different industry for similar salary, but I might have to relocate and I'm concerned the work may involve translation instead of pure legal work.

First day of 30mg vyvanse today. Had a rush of energy and hyperfocus (too much so) about 2-4 hours in, but had a complete crash 5hrs after taking the pill (just a wave of fatigue, felt very good after a quick 15min nap actually) and not sure if it had any effect after. Is this normal? Should I stick it out for a few days or is this a big sign that I’m not on the right meds/dose? Nervous to keep trialling this during the workday since a midday crash is not ideal.
