I would like to hit fire between 40-50. Currently 27, 185k total comp (125 for me and 60 for partner). Like my job don’t hate it don’t love it. Does an MBA make sense? I’m guessing it could take me to 170ish with that schools I’m looking at but wondering if the 40-50 retirement range makes an mba not make sense since I’d only have 10-20 years to save vs 12-22.

I am asking this as I see SDE making much more salary than data scientist. Also experience and skill set required to become SDE is much less than Data scientist. For becoming SDE you need DSA and System design but Data scientist position require hell lot of skills. Also it is easier to find a job as SDE .

I found out a soon to be 2nd year associate got a 10k raise making his salary 110k now, while I, the soon to be 3rd year associate got a 2k raise making my salary 107k. So now the 2nd year male associate is making more money than me. How do I bring this up to the partners?

Is it bad to be over-utilized? I just did the math and I could charge zero hours this week and take a 3 week vacation after and still be 100% utilized? Is that abnormal?

I’m a designer in the planning/landscape architecture dept. of a CE firm. Extremely frustrated that after 4+ years and multiple asks, I’m not getting the in-field construction experience I’ve asked for. I know that my designs could be better if I could see how things are actually built but I get slapped in the face with “I need you in the office designing/drafting” or “there’s no budget to have you go out” and then sends an intern to inspect instead. Does anyone else feel like people who are generally nice in person and on calls sound mean or stand-offish in emails and text/chat? I get that over-use of friendliness in text can come off as green/immature, but I tend to try and cushion my words with positivity or even exclamation marks/the occasional emoji to show that I don't sound completely unemotional.

Or maybe i'm just an overthinking copywriter who's reading into it too much.
