It’s loo late when you leave the room feet first on your back. Before that day, go for it.
So you're saying if they carry me out headfirst I get to come back from the dead and try again?
It’s never too late.
PM is a very versatile role so even if you need to do something else until you figure out a better way for you to make money, you can do something else.
Oh man, is it the LA office? I’m hearing so much that our PM’s are burning out.
Yeah it’s officially too much 🙃
I can relate. I am so close to leaving agency life. I’ll say start small and try to pivot out of agencies even if it’s still in the same industry, like working for a publisher or whatever. Leverage your transferable skills for the move. Develop a story and good reasons to why you want to move away and show your efforts to branch out, willing to learn and work hard. May not be a complete reset but at least you’re away from agencies.
Never too late. Your PM skills and soft skills are transferable, as long as you’re willing to learn and be a newbie for a while in a different industry/role.
I have a lot of friends who PM at tech companies and start-ups. They really like it.
Well, what do you want to do?
Never too late
It’s only too late when your savings is too low, and your annual costs are too high, to compensate for the lower (? maybe) income your new career will cover. (Hope that makes sense.)
That is where I am. Hard for me to ask the kids and my spouse to give up our nice middle class lifestyle, leave their friends, etc. so we can move to a cheaper area because I can’t fucking stand my job anymore.
Makes complete sense, I think a lot of people are in that position sadly 😢
Why don’t you PM in-house?
Do you have in-house suggestions???
