I started a new job just 7 weeks ago, but an opportunity for a dream job just suddenly and unexpectedly fell into my lap! It’s a lot more money, more aligned with my career goals, and will have better work life balance. I’d be an idiot to not take this great new opportunity! That being said… I’m going to feel bad leaving this new job so soon. I’m sure they’ll be disappointed and maybe even angry… is there any way to NOT burn bridges on my way out of this current job?

I've decided to leave public for an Accounting Manager position in private. What are the different types of companies to consider and the pros/cons? What are the best ways to get the position? I'm leaning toward GL accounting at a publicly-traded company. My background is 3.5 years audit and 2.5 years technical accounting advisory.

A CRO offerred me an internal consulting/biz dev role. They offered 145k TC (20% bump) and slightly better benefits. They also offered accelerated path (6mo to 1yr) to MC. While promotion to MC at my current company is at least 1 year away. The job is interesting to me and fits my careery goal. But my big concern is that I've only been with my current company for a year (this is my first job, post PhD). Would this affect my resume in the future in terms of being viewed as "job hopping"?

I am a mechanical engineer and people think that because I am a "mechanical" engineer like I fix cars. It is part of the career, but it is not the same thing. It happens to others that people confuse your profession, or it's only to me?

Hey everyone - I could do with some advice. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I am having a hard time getting interview calls. I am trying to pivot from consulting to the industry and targeting project/program management roles. I have been doing this work for 7+ years now (total YOE 12 years) so certainly have the right skillset. I have tried a couple of referrals too but that didn’t help either. For the people who earned the SHRM-CP, did you feel it was worth it? I have an indirect HR position, been applying for more HR focused positions and wondering if this would help. I got the CAPM (certified associate of project management) in December, but that hasn’t really changed things. Would love some opinions before working on another certification!

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? I was just let go from a contract position 2 months early due to client reorgs (Covid). Was filed as a W2 but on a 6 month contract. Would I still qualify for unemployment?
