Op sounds like a huge nerd
I’m sure that’s the point. It helps the pr angle. “Subway succeeds in pissing off McDonald’s."
Direct competitors are allowed to do that. There will be no lawsuit.
Trust me, they’ve run that through the legal gamut. There won’t be Cease and Desist. They don’t show the face of Ronald McDonald so it won’t count as using his likeness
Sounds like, but I didn’t. I work on a burger brand and appreciated the angle they took. They aren’t just going after mcdonalds they are going after the whole segment.
Joke is on them. Ronald was retired a while ago. Maybe they should stay current on what mcds is currently doing vs. living in the past?
No one knows Ronald is retired. To most consumers he still represents the brand. What was Subway supposed to do have people awkwardly and silently eating terribly shot burgers to skewer the new McDonald’s work? The joke is on McDonald’s because of the we are unlimited work.
@acd1 sounds like you did the terrible Subway work. What they should have done is gone with an interesting insight. Wendy's and bk already have the competitive angle nailed for qsr. Subway getting in the game this late is just being lazy as creatives and a client.
