I doubt they have offered you already. But congrats if you have made it but it’s funny you don’t know what it is.
BCG Consulting has 2 tracks.
MBA college hires join as Generalist /
Levels : Junior Con - Consultant - Project Lead - Principal - Partner & MD.
Expert is a specialist track meant for experienced Consultant into a specific topic - generally less aggressive than generalist growth.
Expert Track Levels: Consultant - Expert (Project Leader and grow to Principal) - Senior Expert (Associate Director/Director : Associate Partner equivalent) > Partner and MD.
Pay wise they pay equally to both expert and generalist tracks. Generalist folks get better bonus. Look for subsequent generalist salary in glassdoor.
Folks who have potential and interested - they transition to generalist level during the time.

Honestly not sure. Internal bill rates are similar so I assume comp is. Expert levels are C-PL-Pr (same as generalist) then Assoc Dir (above generalist Pr but below Partner) and Director (Partner equiv). Obviously as the top end, variable comp is less but not sure how that manifests at lower levels.
Other features of expert: perform or out vs. up or out, no explicit BD requirements (YMMV), and some utilization/billability expectations.
I'm confused. You have an offer, but don't know what the role is or what compensation they are offering you? Expert is a track (vs. Generalist), not a role. Role will be likely be a Consultant.
OP how long did it take you to prep for cases
Mostly No cases for Expert track - it’s specialized track. But OP may have gone through one ...
Thanks all! And you’re right P2 - “on offer” was a poor choice of words. Read as “was approached by recruiter”.
P2 - close. Couple corrections. There's no junior consultant role. Also, experts top out at Director. There's no path to Partner. I'm sure there are exceptions, but transition to generalist track is not likely.
B1 how does the comp compare to generalist? Is it accurate to say that base is comparable but bonus is lower?
