I am looking for a new role where I can work remotely globally. I’m currently a “ministry assistant” which is essentially an executive assistant/admin/customer service rep all in one. I’ve been an Admin Assistant for 5 years with the last 2 in a government. I have worked hard to get here thinking this is what I wanted. Now that I’m here, making 40k CAD/yr. I just found out a new colleague was brought on at 20% higher salary than my current salary. (Have been w/ firm 1.5 years) She doesn’t have a 4-year degree (working on it). How do I bring this inequity up and ask to be compensated equally? I have years more experience and My work is more complex - she is basically a receptionist. Any suggestions would be helpful!

How do you manage your money?

I only bring in a little over $2,600 a month. After paying all my expenses, I get to put away $500 a month in savings but don’t have much wiggle room for anything else, including going out money.

I’m very privileged to have a significant inheritance and zero debt of any kind. I really wonder how my peers who have student loans, car payments, and even children manage to pay their bills and live so comfortably. Please share if this is you!
