Feeling very lethargic. I’m sleepy, can’t concentrate and have just about had enough of the partners I work for. I’m stretched too thin, without guidance, and expected to know everything to perfection. I can’t help but think this is not normal. I feel so isolated

Are you me? I had a panic attack about this exact thing a week ago. I think it’s a manifestation of burnout

I’ve been there so many times. You have to learn to love yourself more than the job.

You’re burning out. Take a vacation. Also if it continues or gets worse, look into taking mental health leave. You can probably do it using short term disability (6-12 weeks at most firms).

You’re on the precipice of burn out. Try to find a break or do nice things for yourself.

Does anyone know if this is normal? I joined a vault 100 firm in September last year. The firm put me on tier 7. In January I had the associate review and everything was normal. After a couple of weeks, I got the call from the hiring partner telling my bonus and new salary (because of the firm-wide salary increase). I realized I still get paid as a 7 year associate. The partner said because I joined the firm later in the year, it’s normal not to advance in the next year. Is it? Thanks!

I’m a first year associate (almost second year). I work at a national firm and I’m not a litigator. When I started with the firm, I was told I could work out of any office. Long story short, I regret choosing the office that I chose. I’d like to transfer to another office - is that a difficult ask? I’m licensed in the state I’d like to transfer to. I don’t know how to make this request.

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.
