First time attending CYOC in December what should I expect? I’m a married man and bringing my family to take them to Disney world as well so I don’t plan on any late nights. From what I have heard it will likely not be much of substance for me and is afrotechish where it’s a big party.

Do you ever feel like there are rooms you’re locked out of? I’m a black woman, i lateraled to my group a few months ago with minimal onboarding and welcome. A white woman joined recently and everyone has bent over backwards to make her feel welcome and get her integrated into the group. People have invested less in me and it’s going to show in a few years when she’s up for partner and I’m still catching up.

I’m looking for a paralegal opportunity in the DMV/NYC/NJ area, preferably remote but I’m open to a hybrid schedule. I’ve an LL.B. (2014), and currently working as an appellate paralegal with experience in bankruptcy, civil rights litigation, and family law. I’m open to all areas of the law. Please comment if you are or know someone/law firm/in-house who’s looking for a paralegal.

Does anyone have family members who constantly demand money because they feel like you’re rich now because you’re a lawyer? I’ve always wanted to be in a position to help my family but we all live in the high COL city so my salary doesn’t carry me as far as it would elsewhere. I’ve given a detailed summary of all of my expenses yet every month one family member in particular comes to me for rent money (not some, the full amount, and they refuse to get a job). It has become quite the burden.

Other than losing out on the bonus, what else happens if you don’t meet your billable target for a year)? A number of associates at my firm miss their target and it doesn’t appear to be an issue.

When, or if you set time aside to take care of yourself or do something for yourself, what do you do? I'm realizing I don't really have any "healthy" ways of relaxing outside of work, so drop whatever you got. It's starting to affect my personal life and I'm worried I won't be able to have healthy relationships unless I can take care of myself first.
