Well yes. Crypto is taxed like stocks & other types of property. When you sell for a profit, you are required to pay tax on the gains. It’s called capital gains tax.

27 F. Work as 1st year associate in Big Law NYC. Base salary $215k, bonus is ~$10k (lowballing), student loans are $150k, total savings are about $100k. 0 family money and will likely be supporting parents long term. Any advice on how/when to start investing in real estate. Currently have all savings in market (with personal investing in index funds or 401K/RothIRA/mega back door).

I’m considering building up my I bonds to eventually replace my 6 month expenses emergency savings account. Any downsides I’m not considering? If I slowly ramp up and ladder, I can partially withdraw any amount if I need to after a year. Even with lower inflation in the future, I’m guessing it’s going to beat a savings account yield. Anyone else the last to be informed about ANYTHING at their site? I am only a second year SPED teacher and my eyes are already wide open to the fact that admin and Gen Ed teachers so often fail to inform me about important things regarding the grade levels I teach and other school events. Then I’m left scrambling to inform my students and parents of essential information, and I’m embarrassed! My aides also look at me like why don’t you know this? Aggravating.

What IEP software/web service does your district use? My district has been converting from SEAS Achieve to SEAS Attain this year, but I’m curious about what else is out there.

How long do you spend on core subjects if not a goal on IEP? So if most goals are life skills (putting shoes on, zipping, etc.) how long would you spend on math during math hour or how much do you worry about writing activities if they can’t write etc?

Too many cooks in the kitchen

I love my job in special education, the job may bring quite a bit of stress and exhaustion but nothing compares to the stress of the related service team. OT, PT, speech, BCBA, social worker, etc etc is really what’s killing me this year. It is 23 days into the school year and the team members all make different plans and as a result, nothing is being accomplished. And if paraprofessionals follow ie what OT says but not PT, it cause so much unnecessary conflict!

I feel like I'm at my wits end. I teach self-contained classes and according to the ISBE website my classes shouldn't be more than 8 students unless I have an aide - then it can be 10. I have no aide and most of my classes are around 14 kids. Some with behavior plans that are only out of our behavior room setting for my class... Is anybody else out there going through illegal class sizes for self-contained? How are you dealing? Maybe a vent session is in order.

Has anyone ever filed an episode of workplace violence after being attacked by a student? What was the process like?

I’ve 90 min for ELA & 6 kids. I need to teach phonics, curriculum (has 0 phonics), & goals & they need freq. breaks. Admin’s making me use said curric. Any ideas?? Small groups and rotate? TIA!

My students come to my class first every morning and are really hard to settle. They continue to carry on whatever they were doing on the bus. It takes about 20 min to get them settled down and doing the warm up and the class is only 45 min. Any tips?
