Just heard back from the doctor’s office: no concern with the travel, as long as I’m feeling ok. I was concerned about radiation but they said we are exposed to more radiation through cell phones & laptops.
I’ll have to learn to administer my progesterone shot on my own. Many people do it, so I guess I can do it.
I’ll make sure my appointments are booked way in advance and I plan them into my work schedule.
I think I should take this opportunity.
I've been doing my progesterone shots for the past week while my partner is traveling. it's doable, but not ideal. Unsure how to travel with needles, but would assume that becomes a checked bag vs carry on
What does your doctor say about 2 4 hour flights during travel weeks? Are there any shots you need to give yourself? Are you able to get to all appointments with this schedule? If doctor clears it, you can do any shots yourself, and nothing else is around, then yes
If I am going to be honest. And this is coming from a sad who just had an IVF baby - after 4 years of trying..or maybe 5.
Talk to your ppmd in confidence and decline..tell them that it's high risk (which it is) and you're more than welcome to do anything local. I'm not carrying but I refused travelling opportunities. My wifes contract also ended during her first month and while it took hit on finances, it was the best decision ever.
IVF is hard on women..constant injections, scans, etc...
And it's technically two surgeries, transfer and retrieval.
You'll have more opportunities again, but you should not risk this precious miracle at any cost. You may overcome an opportunity for early promotion but never loss of a baby. If your team isn't cooperative, they won't be cooperative when you are birthing or have a child.
That said.. congratulations! From a 3 day old IVF, I can't wait tor you to hold your baby in your arms!
I agree!!!! Prioritize the baby. I would ask for an accommodation to work on it remote, but if it’s not possible just let it go. You have your whole life to work.
I would take it l, travel for the first few months of pregnancy, and then get a doctors note saying I can’t fly anymore due to health issues. They don’t need to know the details beyond the dr note, and I don’t believe they can’t let you go from the project bc of the dr note.
Where is the client located? The only thing that I would consider is if you have to travel to a state that doesn’t respect women’s healthcare and the risks of that. Personally, I told my fiancé that once I’m pregnant, there’s no way I’m traveling to any of those states because it’s not worth the risk of having a complication and doctors not being able to help me. I’m also traumatized after a girlfriend had to be medically evacuated from a state because of this.
I also hear a lot from women about feeling guilt for knowing they are pregnant when their managers don’t. Maybe in a future world where pregnant women are treated equitably that can be the case, but in this environment, more people are willing to work against you than with you, so take advantage at every given point.
I would ask for an accommodation!!! See if you can travel less
